NBA Trade Rumors: Jamal Crawford and 5 Players Who Need a New Team
There are a lot of players that just plain need new teams to play on in the NBA.
The NBA trade deadline just happens to be this week; what a coincidence!
Jamal Crawford is one of those players who needs a new team to play on.The 12-year veteran hasn't fit in well with the Portland Trailblazers and will become a free agent again when he opts out after this season.
It is in the best interest of both parties to get him out of there. Here are some other guys who are in similar situations.
Jamal Crawford
1 of 6As I told you in the last slide, Jamal Crawford needs to go.
The Portland Trailblazers have been a disappointment this season, with a 20-21 record so far.
Crawford has put up similar numbers to those he put up last season in Atlanta, but the experience just isn't clicking.
According to CBSSports.com, numerous teams have inquired about Crawford, and the Trailblazers need to deal him, especially since they'll probably lose him in the offseason anyway.
Michael Beasley
2 of 6Michael Beasley is another guy who needs to get out of town.
The Minnesota Timberwolves look like they are sold on Derrick Williams as their future at the small forward spot.
That makes Beasley expendable.
Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics will be in the market for Beasley, a streaky scorer who has tons of talent, despite his off-the-court issues.
Eric Gordon
3 of 6Eric Gordon ended up in New Orleans as part of the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers.
He won't be there for long.
Teams like the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in Gordon, who has the potential to be one of the next great shooting guards in the NBA.
He's only played in two games for the Hornets due to injury, and you shouldn't expect him to play any more for them either.
Ray Allen
4 of 6Ray Allen is proving this season that he can still contribute to a championship squad.
Now he just needs to be on one.
The Boston Celtics are not a championship-caliber squad, but Ray Allen has played well.
His scoring has gone down, and he isn't as versatile as he once was, but he is shooting 47 percent from three-point range, which is the best he's ever shot in any season of his 15-year career.
That's impressive from the most prolific three-point shooter in NBA history.
Allen needs to be contributing on a team that can win it all.
Steve Nash
5 of 6Steve Nash is another veteran with high-end skills who needs to be playing for a contender.
The Phoenix Suns should deal Nash and get pieces to begin the rebuilding process.
Nash loves Phoenix and will not ask for a trade, but the team should do it for themselves and him.
This probably won't happen, but it should.
Nash could turn a mediocre team into a dangerous playoff threat. He's got Phoenix above water, despite having no supporting cast.
He's averaging 13.6 points and 11 assists at age 38, which is incredible enough by itself.
Nash deserves a better end to his career than a slow drift into retirement that no one notices in Phoenix.
Josh Smith
6 of 6Josh Smith needs a new team too.
He's been in Atlanta long enough and will have considerable value as one of the most athletic and versatile players in the NBA.
He isn't backing off the rumor that he requested a trade, and his team should give it to him.
The Orlando Magic have been mentioned in connection with him, but there haven't been many others mentioned.
A few teams that should be interested are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, both of which need talent and scoring.
Smith is a very valuable trade piece that should be dealt soon.
