NBA Trade Rumors: 4 Teams That Should Stick with What They Have
There were a lot of teams that struggled out of the gate early this season due to the late start and abbreviated training camps. There was all sorts of talk about the trades that they would need to make in order to remain competitive.
But now that teams have had some time to settle in and figure out their problems, some of these trades seem a little bit superfluous and they would be better off not trading away their players.
Boston Celtics
1 of 4There have been plenty of rumors circulating out there that Boston’s Rajon Rondo is on the block and actively being shopped around.
Rondo is one of those guys that you need on your team if you want to make a deep run into the playoffs. He has a certain fire about him that can rub off on the rest of his teammates.
If Boston wants to make a legitimate run at the playoffs this year, especially against the Heat and Bulls in the Eastern Conference, they will need someone to keep the aggression and passion, not to mention the nearly 14 points and 10 assists per game.
Orlando Magic
2 of 4Still the biggest name that may or may not be on the block is Dwight Howard. Throughout the season he has been in and out of the market many different times and with many different teams. No one is really sure what will happen.
The same applies to Orlando as does to Boston; the East will be really hard to win this year if the Magic doesn’t have the most dominant center in today’s game.
Averaging 21 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks a game, its hard to fill that gap on a roster and if they can’t fill that hole, the Magic will have an uphill battle for the rest of this season and probably the seasons to come.
Los Angeles Lakers
3 of 4Another noisemaker is the struggle between Pau Gasol and the Laker management. Multiple times this season Gasol has been involved in a trade, even one that would have taken him out of L.A. if David Stern hadn’t vetoed the trade.
The Lakers are just now beginning to look like themselves on the court after trading away Lamar Odom. Getting rid of another big man, especially one of Gasol’s caliber, would really hurt the Lakers in this abbreviated season.
Hopefully the only reason why Gasol has not been moved up to this point, is because the Laker management realizes this as well.
Minnesota Timberwolves
4 of 4Several rumors speculate that the Minnesota Timberwolves should and or may try to trade Michael Beasley to another team.
Again, the Timberwolves are surprising a lot of teams and people this year with their sudden improvement and high potential, barring any kind of collapse or injury to Kevin Love, to make the playoffs this year.
They have already beaten the Portland Trail Blazers twice this year, a team they hadn’t beat since 2007.
Beasley seems to be slowly pulling out of his funk. Why mess with a team that may very well take you to the playoffs for the first time since the 2003-04 season?
