NBA Trade Rumors: Price Too High for Bucks' Andrew Bogut

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Have you had your eyes on Andrew Bogut? Well, you can finally have him, but you have to take the whining and petulance of Stephen Jackson as well.

Yes, the Milwaukee Bucks have finally had their fill of the incessant injuries of Andrew Bogut, and they have certainly had enough of S-Jax.

Both come in a package deal that should make most general managers cringe with the mere thought of the two players.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Bucks have eased on their previous notion that Bogut was untouchable. He writes:

"

NBA front-office sources say that the Bucks...are now listening to pitches for the 7-foot Australian, who is said to be intrigued by the prospect of a fresh start elsewhere...

This development, though, comes with a crucial caveat: Sources say that the Bucks, at least for the moment, are insisting that any team that trades for Bogut take on the disgruntled Stephen Jackson as part of the trade.

"

Blech.

Jackson was shipped off from the Charlotte Bobcats after his incessant contract demands became too much. Now the Bucks realize how cumbersome this personality can be.

No matter where he lands, Jackson begins to instantly complain about his contract and playing time. I will give him some leeway, as Scott Skiles seems to be hitting him hard this season with bench play.  With that being said, Jackson remains a player that just isn't worth the gamble. Couple that with Bogut and his durability issues, and you have a horrendous package deal for most teams.

Stein does offer one team that would be willing to swap, and it's the Washington Wizards:

"

Sources say that the Washington Wizards are among the teams to express the strongest interest in Bogut, which might be another indication that the Wiz are prepared to part with the enigmatic JaVale McGee, if not before the deadline than during the offseason.

"

Most would see Bogut's price tag as exorbitant, but the Wizards are in just as tough a spot. JaVale McGee isn't working out as he continues his enigmatic play.

It's clear the Wizards need a fresh start before the team implodes on itself. When the headache become too extreme, you will take just about anything to make it go away.

That is where we find ourselves with the Bucks and Wizards. One man's junk is another's treasure or, simply, pain relief.
