ESPN Films' "The Announcement": Start Time, Schedule, Trailer and More
On Sunday, March 11, ESPN Films will bring its deft touch in the art of sports storytelling to the life and times of Earvin "Magic" Johnson, focusing on his contracting HIV/AIDS and the fight he's waged against the disease ever since in "The Announcement."
A joint project between award-winning director Nelson George and NBA Entertainment, the film will delve deep into that fateful day—Nov. 7, 1991—when Magic first announced his retirement. It will also explore the trials and triumphs he's experienced the last 20 years, including his MVP showing in the 1992 NBA All-Star Game, his gold medal performance with the "Dream Team" at the Barcelona Olympics, his brief comeback in 1996, and his many successes in business and philanthropy after basketball.
Tune in to see Johnson, a three-time league MVP and five-time NBA champion, turn what appeared to be a death sentence into a life of hope and remarkable accomplishment.
