Rajon Rondo Trade Rumors: Where He Might Land

Brandon Taylor Jun 7, 2018

It has become obvious that the Boston Celtics will make a move at the trade deadline. General Manager Danny Ainge could trade Ray Allen or Paul Pierce, but the name that has come under the most scrutiny is point guard Rajon Rondo. The All Star point guard is close to wearing out his welcome in Boston, according to reports. Where might he land ?

Rondo to Oklahoma City

After the playoffs last year, Boston inquired about trading Rondo for Russell Westbrook. That trade isn't happening because despite Westbrook's inconsistent shooting, he has seemingly become even better this season. Westbrook and Kevin Durant could carry Oklahoma City to a championship this season, so they aren't breaking up.

Rondo to Indiana

Rondo to the Pacers was mentioned in November, but given the Pacers start to the season, it's debatable whether Rondo would be the final piece to put them over the top. The Celtics probably could have gotten Danny Granger and Darren Collison, but Rondo's lack of shooting would put pressure on David West and Paul George to score.

Rondo to Los Angeles Lakers

Rondo to the Lakers still has legs. It's unknown whether the Lakers could get Rondo for Pau Gasol straight up, but that's a move that would set the Lakers back. The Lakers need to upgrade Derek Fisher, but Rondo isn't the answer, Deron Williams is. If Kobe Bryant was 27 and capable of dropping 50 points any given night this would be a good trade, but Kobe isn't that player anymore.

Rondo to Sacramento

This doesn't make sense unless Boston gets Tyreke Evans, which isn't happening. This piece believes that the Kings could give Boston a first round draft pick, and Hassan Whiteside or Isaiah Thomas. That deal is too weak for Boston to take, and when you also add in that Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins aren't exactly buddies, it could turn into a disaster for the Kings.
