Charles Barkley Crosses Line with Disturbing Comments About Fans

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Charles Barkley has a problem with some fans, so much so that he admitted to wanting to use violence against them, which was way out of line for the NBA analyst and former player.

Sure, Barkley has seen his fair share of disgruntled, upset, annoying and rude fans throughout his career, but resulting to an action of crime is absurd, even if he was just kidding in his statement.

Per the USA Today, Barkley made a Wednesday appearance on Jim Rome's radio show, and what he said about certain fans is ridiculous and wrong on so many levels.

"Fans man. They love their team and their player. They don't want to hear any criticisms. They just want you to be 100 percent for their team period. I think it's only a small faction. I think 80 percent are great. Twenty percent, I wish you could take them out back and just shoot them."

Rome tried to give the TNT (pun intended) analyst an out by saying "Well, maybe not shoot them, Chuck." But Barkley just reloaded.

"No, I meant that Jim. Eighty percent of the fans are fantastic. But 20 percent of them are so mean-spirited and say the most nasty things to you, because they know you can't grab them."

"

Had Chuck laughed it off after Rome interjected, things wouldn't be nearly as bad. However, going with "No, I meant that Jim" is an extremely poor choice of words.

That lets everyone know he's serious about it and if he could get away with it, he would, which is very disturbing.

Barkley has every right to despise certain fans, but wanting to inflict harm on them is way over the top.

Embarrassing them on the basketball court say on national television so everyone can see how bad they suck at hoops might have been a better option for Barkley.

Then again, that would require Chuck to be in good physical shape to play and who knows how much Weight Watchers has really helped him.

For a public figure like him, Barkley should be ashamed he openly admitted that he'd perform acts of violence on innocent people.

There were a ton of different ways Barkley could have bashed the negative fans, but stating he would like to shoot them is going entirely too far.
