Daily Worst: Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin Leveled by League's Elite Teams

Kelly ScalettaJun 7, 2018

The Daily Worst is back! Here we don't worry ourselves over celebrating the great, we instead giggle over the not so great. We review the worst plays, the worst performances by teams and players. We even give out awards just for being bad.

As always, the disclaimer here is that no teams or players were hated in the production of this article. The recipients got here the hard way, they earned it.

Worst Landing

1 of 4

Norris Cole here is like the gymnast who does everything right up to the landing, then totally flubs the landing. Everything up to that point is a perfect 10. Then he gets docked two points for not sticking the landing, unless of course his intention was to stick it with his face.

Worst Disappointment by a Team

2 of 4

The Los Angeles Lakers were supposed to be a team that showed up and established they were the resident dynasty in the league. Maybe they weren't going to win in Oklahoma City, but it would have been good to at least contend.

Instead they more or less got their doors blown off as the Thunder rocked them, taking over in the second half and winning the game 100-85, holding the Lakers to 39 percent from the field in the process.

Worst Disappointment by a Player

3 of 4

The Linsanity did not continue last night. It crashed. It hit a brick wall known as LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Lin had a negative Game Score of minus-.4. That's how bad things got for Jeremy Lin who scored eight points, and had six boards  and three dimes, but he also went 1-of-11 from the field and had eight turnovers.

Jeremy Lin the player isn't done, but that's a good thing. Maybe we can start evaluating him more as a player and less as an event now.

Daily Awards

4 of 4

We give out two awards every day, and it's going to seem like we're picking on Jeremy Lin here, it's just the way things worked out.

Every day we give out two awards, the Bakers Award for whoever makes the most turnovers and the Up Chucker award for whoever keeps forcing up bad shots even though he's missing to the point it makes us want to barf.

The winner of both of those awards last night was none other than Jeremy Lin. His eight turnovers and 1-of-11 shooting night were the worst in the NBA.  Welcome to the NBA.
