LeBron James Speaks on Exit from Cleveland and Possible Return

Jun 7, 2018

When the book on LeBron James is written many years from now, his notorious exit from Cleveland is going to be the most important chapter in the whole thing. To this point, it's the most important part of LeBron's NBA career.

For leaving them, Cleveland fans hate LeBron, and they probably will forever.

Unless maybe LeBron finds a way to return to Cleveland later in his career. He said on Thursday that he would be open to the idea.

Moreover, LeBron says he doesn't harbor a grudge against Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, who famously called LeBron's exodus to South Beach a "cowardly betrayal" in an open letter to Cavs fans.

Via Lloyd, here's part one:

As for which "mistake" LeBron wishes he could take back, he did not clarify what he was talking about. It's doubtful that he means his decision to leave Cleveland in the first place, but he may very well be referring to "The Decision," which he has previously defended.

So will LeBron ever end up back in Cleveland?

He certainly could. Per Rotoworld, LeBron is signed with the Heat through 2016, but he has player options for 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. If he wants to bail out early, he can.

But for now, a return to Cleveland is a possibility and nothing more. All we know is that LeBron is leaving the door open for an eventual return.

The question is whether or not Cavs fans would welcome him with open arms.
