NBA: 5 Underdog Teams That Could Win It All

0 of 5

The NBA is sometimes devoid of parity. Usually the front-runners tend to pan out, and the team with the best players ultimately takes the championship.

This is the reason the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder have been picked as locks for the NBA Finals.

Before we pencil them in, there are some  under-the-radar teams that could win an NBA title this year.

Here are five underdog teams who could win it all.

Denver Nuggets

1 of 5

The Denver Nuggets have taken a hard fall from the top of the Western Conference standings, but fans of the team shouldn't panic.

The Nuggets have been bit by the injury bug that is running rampant in the NBA. Their best player, Danilo Gallinari, has been sidelined the past few weeks. Freshly re-signed big man Nene is also hampered with a calf injury.

With the return of their stars, the Denver Nuggets will be right back in contention. Add Wilson Chandler back from China and the Nuggets can beat anyone.

Boston Celtics

Never count out the Boston Celtics. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen can all stroll on the court with walking canes, and they still have a shot.

The team is mentally tough and always defensively sound.

Rajon Rondo provides the youthful energy the older team needs and can compete with any player at his position.

The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls would love not to see this team come playoff time.

Los Angeles Clippers

3 of 5

Lob City has substance. Chris Paul brings a confidence and calm the Los Angeles Clippers have never felt.

Chauncey Billups' loss will be felt, but the team still can compete with Paul and Blake Griffin leading the way.

Their success is dependent upon Mo Williams continuing his stellar play off the bench and Randy Foye offering anything at all at this point.

Los Angeles Lakers

4 of 5

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled from the start of the season.

Kobe has been spectacular. Andrew Bynum has been good. Pau Gasol has been decent. Everyone else has been abysmal.

Still, there is time for the Lakers to gel.

Mike Brown will always have his team in the game defensively, and Kobe can close any game anytime.

New York Knicks

5 of 5

Linsanity is beginning to scare NBA contenders.

Just when you counted the New York Knicks out, Jeremy Lin heroically saved the season.

Couple the new-found success with the return of Carmelo Anthony and the signing of J.R. Smith, and the Knicks are a legitimate threat to the throne.

Lin has to continue to be the on-court general of the team. 'Melo and Stoudemire will only profit if they allow him to run the show.

With a guard like Lin and all the scorers on the roster, the Knicks can make a title run.
