8 Players Who Could Be the Next Jeremy Lin

Matt ShetlerJun 4, 2018

By now, everyone knows the story of New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin.

That also leaves every other team in the NBA searching for their own success story on their current rosters.

It won't be easy, and there might not be another Lin story out there right now, but teams now have to open their eyes to the possibility of finding their own diamond in the rough.

Here's a look at a few guys that if given the right opportunity, they could become a success story of their own.

Now these guys differ from Lin in the fact that they don't have a Harvard education and most of these guys didn't go undrafted, but regardless, here's a look at a few guys buried on NBA benches at the moment that could become the NBA's next success story within time.

Jordan Hamilton, Denver Nuggets

1 of 8

Hamilton has appeared in only four games for the Nuggets so far, sitting on the bench on a very deep and talented team.

At Texas he showed the ability to score from anywhere on the floor, and he's also a good rebounder.

There's always been questions about his shot selection, which was awful in college, but given the right opportunity, Hamilton is a guy that could possibly open up some eyes.

Marcus Morris, Houston Rockets

2 of 8

Morris hasn't had the NBA success that his brother Markieff has had early on with the Phoenix Suns.

He's only appeared in three games for the Rockets this season and has been demoted to the D-League for the second time this season.

Morris was dominant in the D-League during his first stint, but he's a scorer and given the opportunity could become a good one in the NBA.

Of course he's pretty much a tweener, so someone is going to have to make a decision on whether he's a 3 or a 4, but he has ability and could turn into a good NBA player.

Travis Leslie, Los Angeles Clippers

3 of 8

Leslie's only appeared in seven contests for the Clippers, but he's an athlete who can do some positive things if given the opportunity down the road.

He needs to work on his shooting, but that was also an early knock on Lin.

He can defend and get to the rim and could one day prove to be a very valuable guard at the NBA level.

Josh Selby, Memphis Grizzlies

4 of 8

Selby came to college with a lot of hype and didn't really live up to it.

He also got a quick look with the Grizzlies this season, but didn't do much with the opportunity early on and is now been regulated to only 10 total minutes in the month of February.

But he's a guy that shouldn't be given up on.

Selby's a combo guard who can excel at the NBA level getting to the rim. His outside shot needs a lot of work, but we probably haven't heard the last of Selby.

Dexter Pittman, Miami Heat

5 of 8

Pittman has played in only 15 career games, now in his second season with the Heat and barely gets about seven minutes of action in those appearances.

He's powerful around the basket, and he's getting himself into better shape.

Pittman is a long shot, but he's a guy who if he keeps the weight off and learns how not to foul could become a pretty good big man.

Malcom Lee, Minnesota Timberwolves

6 of 8

Lee is currently in the D-League and the Wolves are pretty well set in the backcourt, but Ben Howland's guards usually tend to put up better numbers in the NBA then they do at UCLA.

Lee could be no exception as he could be a good, athletic NBA guard. Scoring could be something to watch with Lee, but he's a guy worth keeping an eye on.

Justin Harper, Orlando Magic

7 of 8

Harper is a rookie who has only appeared in five games so far for the Magic and has averaged only two minutes of playing time in those games; but he's a player with a reputation for being both a good shooter and being a guy with the ability to get to the rim.

He's a long shot to ever get the opportunity and needs to add strength and a mean streak to his game, but he has the offensive game in him to possibly become a success.

Cory Joseph, San Antonio Spurs

8 of 8

Joseph has already made a stint in the D-League and doesn't get much of a look right now in San Antonio.

He's not necessarily a point guard, but with an opportunity down the road could potentially turn into a pretty good player.

Joseph is a guy who should be able to get to the basket and create for teammates.

He could be a forgotten man this season on a veteran Spurs team, but down the road he could turn himself into a solid guard.
