Dwight Howard and 7 NBA Stars Who Desperately Want to Be Traded

Matt JonesJun 2, 2018

There are seven players who would like nothing more than to be on a new NBA team's roster as soon as they can possibly make it there.

Whether they are a disgruntled superstar playing on an under-performing team, got traded to a team they don't want to play for or one of the top players in the entire league who has a wish list of teams to move to, these are the players that are looking for new homes.

Some of these players will be dealt before the March 15th NBA trade deadline, and some will leave in free agency over the summer.

Regardless of the method of leaving, these players are looking for a way out of a tough situation and are on the road to brighter lights, bigger cities or just better teams.

Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

1 of 7

The Dwight Howard trade rumors have dominated headlines since the end on the NBA lockout, and things are looking more likely that Howard will find his way out of Orlando.

At first it seemed that Howard was able to play through the distractions quietly, but he has recently become more vocal about it.

Howard has been increasingly more public in his frustrations with the Orlando Magic, as he has ripped into his teammates and has been critical of coaching decisions.

He has a few teams on his wish list, and it is looking more and more likely that the Magic will make a move so that they do not lose Howard for nothing.

Stephen Jackson, Milwaukee Bucks

2 of 7

The Milwaukee Bucks thought that they were getting a solid player in Stephen Jackson when they traded a lottery pick and a player for him last summer, but things have not worked out as planned.

Instead of becoming one of the stars of the team, Jackson is not sure how he fits into the Bucks rotation.

The Bucks would be wise to explore trade options for Jackson, and Jackson would no doubt like a fresh start where he can return to a starter's role.

One scenario that involves Jackson is where he may be the key player in a deal with the New Jersey Nets, who would use him to try to convince Dwight Howard to join the team this summer.

A trade of Jackson for Brook Lopez and Anthony Morrow would be close to matching salaries, but the Nets would have to throw in a draft pick or another role player to make it work.

If they thought that it would bring Howard to the team, the Nets would make the deal, and the Bucks would be happy to part with Jackson.

Deron Williams, New Jersey Nets

3 of 7

Deron Williams has endured a difficult season this year with the New Jersey Nets, and he could very well be on his way out, whether it be by a trade or via free agency this summer.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Williams has a wish list of teams including the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

The ideal scenario for Williams would be to stay with the Nets if they are able to acquire Dwight Howard. If the team is unable to do that, it will be a long road of rebuilding for the team, as Howard and Williams will both play somewhere else.

Williams is not currently on the trading block, as all of the Nets' attention is on Howard and will only look for options with Williams when they know whether or not they will land the big center.

If the Nets do not acquire Howard and it is suspected that Williams is on the move, the team will need to look for a trade partner with young players and high draft picks, such as the Sacramento Kings, to make a deal work and hopefully speed the rebuilding time in Brooklyn.

Brandon Jennings, Milwaukee Bucks

4 of 7

In a recent ESPN report, Brandon Jennings stated,

"

"I am going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up. I'm doing my homework on big-market teams.''

"

The time that Jennings is referring to is later this summer when he is eligible to sign a long-term contract with the Milwaukee Bucks when his rookie contract expires.

Jennings may also be eligible for free agency in 2014 and may be already looking to future teams.

Jennings has played well this season, especially in the absence of center Andrew Bogut, who is out with an injury.

The Bucks cannot afford to lose Jennings for nothing in return and need to be cautious with his contract status going forward.

Jennings later clarified his remarks by saying,

"

"I never said I was leaving Milwaukee, though," he said. "That's one thing I want to get cleared up. I don't know what the future holds."

"

The Bucks have plenty of time until a definitive decision must be made on Jennings' future status, but now that comments like this are out there, they must do all they can to keep the point guard.

Ramon Sessions, Cleveland Cavaliers

5 of 7

Since the Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Kyrie Irving last summer, Ramon Sessions has become the odd man out for the team.

Rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers have interest in acquiring Sessions have surfaced over the last several weeks as the team looks to fill a gaping hole at the point guard position.

Sessions has not specifically stated that he wants a trade, but it is expected that he will opt out of his contract with the Cavaliers at the end of the season.

It is likely that Sessions would welcome the change if he were dealt to the Lakers to become the starting point guard alongside Kobe Bryant

If a deal with the Lakers happens before the trade deadline, the Cavaliers will be looking for young players, draft picks and salary-cap space.

Andre Miller, Denver Nuggets

6 of 7

The emergence of Ty Lawson for the Denver Nuggets has pushed veteran point guard Andre Miller into a bench role, and he has not been happy about it.

Miller stated earlier this season,

"

"At this point in my career, I don't see myself as a backup. For 13 years, I wasn't a backup before. This is a short season (due to the lockout), so I'll deal with it. But I don't see myself as a backup at this point in my career. I don't see that."

"

Miller will become a free agent at the end of the season and will likely leave the team at that time.

The Nuggets would be wise to see which teams around the league would be willing to offer something in return for Miller.

There are several teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz, who are in need of a veteran point guard and may be willing to give up a younger player or two in return.

Chris Kaman, New Orleans Hornets

7 of 7

Chris Kaman has not specifically said that he wants to be traded and does not have a wish list of teams the Hornets can deal him to, but it is not a reach to think that he does not want to stay with the already-sunken ship in New Orleans.

Earlier in the season, Kaman was reportedly placed on the trading block and then taken back off after a short time.

Kaman, whose $14-million salary expires at the end of the season, will no doubt leave the Hornets as a free agent this summer if the team does not trade him first.

Kaman will not likely make the same salary over the next few seasons, but big men are not easy to come by in the NBA.

If Kwame Brown signed a deal worth $7 million with the Golden State Warriors, Kaman will have no problem finding a team to play for.

Like other rebuilding teams, the Hornets are looking to add young players and draft picks who can help the team in the future.

Earlier this month, Jimmy Smith of The Times-Picayune suggested that teams like the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs have all expressed interest in Kaman.
