Ricky Rubio Vs. Jeremy Lin: Breaking Down Tale of the Tape in Epic PG Clash
When the New York Knicks and Jeremy Lin take on the Minnesota Timberwolves and Ricky Rubio tonight, Twitter might explode. The NBA's two biggest media darlings battling head to head is the stuff that breaks social media records.
The fact that they play the same position only adds to the appeal. Every play will be accounted for, and you will probably feel as though you watched the game, just by following social media.
Hey, maybe it's the new radio.
Here is your guide to the way this clash will breakdown.

Height - Edge Rubio
Both point guards are considered big, at 6'3" and 6'4" they have an advantage over most players they compete against. Neither has a ton of quickness, so they have to use their length to be effective.
While playing against each other, the length will be in Rubio's favor slightly. Rubio is also the more accurate passer at this point, so he'll be able to use his length to disturb the passing lanes, as well as safely delivering passes to his teammates.
Rubio isn't known for his defense, but watch him use his speed and long arms for the chase-down block on the Spurs' Danny Green:
Weight - Edge Lin
Lin definitely has the edge here.
He's a solid 200 pounds on a 6'3" frame. In fact, his underrated strength aids him in beating defenders off the dribble. Once he gets that shoulder by the defensive player, he shields the ball well, and his strength allows him to finish near the basket.
Age - Push
Both men are very young, and despite the fact that Lin has been in the NBA a year longer, he doesn't have a ton of edge in experience, as I'll touch on shortly. At 23 and 21, they are both near their physical primes.
Experience - Rubio
Though Lin has played in more games, and he's been in the league a year longer, Rubio has more experience as a starter and in high profile games.
Rubio has been starting for most of the season, while Lin has only started the past four games. Rubio also has a ton of international experience; he gets the edge here.
Scoring - Lin
Lin looks to score first, he finishes near the basket better as well. Both men struggle shooting from distance, Rubio is 32 percent from three, while Lin has been a poor 21 percent in his four game run.
Still, his ability to drive and get to the line makes him the better scorer. Lin is shooting 8.7 free throws per game, compared to only for Rubio.
Here is Lin on another physical drive:
Assists and Turnovers- Rubio
It's easily Rubio, as he is the far more accomplished passer. Lin is still turning the ball over a ton, while Rubio is orchestrating the offense in Minnesota very well.

Twitter Followers - Rubio
Rubio is killing him for now, but mind you, Lin's followers have more than tripled this week. He's got a long way to go, but at this pace, he may have caught Rubio by March.
Here are recent tweets from both. Rubio shows support for his teammate Kevin Love who is returning from suspension. Lin congratulates Landry Fields for making the Rookie-Sophomore game at NBA All-Star Weekend. He also wonders, as do I, how Iman Shumpert wasn't included.
Team Record - Ricky Rubio
The Wolves are slightly better in the standings right now, but I'm not sure how long that will last. Lin is playing well, and he's helped give the Knicks offense some direction. It remains to be seen what will happen when Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire return to the lineup.
Prediction - Wolves
The return of Kevin Love and the Target Center crowd will get them by in a close and exciting game.
T'Wolves 104 Knicks 99
