Jeremy Lin: Knicks Star Says He's Drawing Inspiration from NFL Star Tim Tebow

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Throughout his journey to stardom, New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin has drawn inspiration from another amazing sports star we are all quite familiar with: Denver Broncos star quarterback Tim Tebow.

"

I actually want to be able to do some of the things that he does in terms of the amount of charity work and the non-profit work, and the way he impacts people off the field. I think that is what is most inspiring to me about him.

Whether you like Tebow or not, there is no denying he is a role model for us all, and he is certainly someone to be inspired from. Lin's story is similar to Tebow's in that he's gone through adversity in his career, yet he's shut up his critics with consistent success.

Also like Tebow, Lin seems unfazed by the spotlight and pressure put on him because of his recent success.

Lin is dominating the New York City sports scene after a tremendous performance in a win against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night, scoring 38 points in a duel with Kobe Bryant.

His 38 points was the most by a Knicks player this season, and after watching Lin dominate the purple and gold under the spotlight of Madison Square Garden and national television, there's no question that he's going to be a star in New York for a long time.

Even when Knicks stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire return to the lineup, it's very unlikely Lin will become ineffective, and head coach Mike D'Antoni doesn't think his young point guard will have a problem fitting in when the stars return.

"

"It's like when we had Chauncey [Billups],'' D'Antoni said. "Chauncey had the ball in his hands a lot. Melo has it a lot. Melo is one of the best pick-and-roll guys; hopefully now we have two of the best. I only see it helping. I don't see it as a problem. There will be some adjustments on both people's parts.

"I see it as a big, big plus. I see it when Amar'e comes back, there's another pick-and-roll guy, maybe the best in the game. I see that as a big plus . . . I can't wait to get those guys back."

"

Lin affects the game in many more ways than scoring, so even when Melo and Amare return to the Knicks lineup on a consistent basis, the rising star will still play an important role for D'Antoni.
