WWE Rumors: John Cena, Kane, The Rock and Friday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsFeb 10, 2012

With so much talk about WrestleMania going on right now, you have to feel bad for the Elimination Chamber show. It has always been the ugly stepchild on the Road to WrestleMania, but that does not mean it can't be a great show.

Still, it is hard to argue with WWE right now since there are a few storylines that are working really well. We could nitpick some small things here and there, but when you get two or three things that are good, you just feel better watching Raw and SmackDown.

But there is still the matter of SmackDown and Raw coming up this week. Actually, there are still two SmackDown's left before we get to the pay-per-view, and there is news to dissect along the way.

JOHN CENA AND KANE GIVE ABU DHABI A TASTE OF WWE

Leave it to WWE to turn a press conference in Abu Dhabi into an angle for Kane and John Cena. With Cena talking to the press, Kane breathed his way into the festivities. Words were exchanged, and Cena ended it by putting Kane through a table.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why did this work better than anything we have seen on television?

Our Take: The key to this working is that neither one spoke to the other. They were jawing back and forth away from the microphone, but not loud enough for us to hear. If this feud were just the two of them staring at each other, like this was, it would be better than all the garbage we get on Raw.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Ruined Press Conferences

This isn't quite on par with the Jeff Jarrett-Hulk Hogan press conference angle a few years back, but it was a fun angle for WWE to run. It will also give the company a little more coverage than just having stars talk.

THE ROCK OWNS CENA ON SPORTSCENTER

As if you needed another reason to cheer for the Rock, just watch how charismatic he is on SportsCenter. He even took his shots at John Cena, saying, essentially, that no one likes him.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Where is this feud going to go?

Our Take: That is the great mystery in WWE right now. We know where it ends, but getting there over the next two months is going to be critical for the company. As long as the build for this match does not get botched, WrestleMania will be fine.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Pec Pops of Love

There should be a seminar at Florida Championship Wrestling with every developmental talent watching tape of the Rock talking. It should end with them being told that this is how you cut promos in wrestling.

R-TRUTH BEING PUSHED DUE TO BOTCHED SPOT ON RAW

It turns out that Miz not catching R-Truth is going to work out well for all the Little Jimmies of the world. WWE is going so far as to call Truth a wildcard in the Raw Elimination Chamber match.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Truth win the title?

Our Take: While I would never put anything past WWE, that would be a bigger upset than Khali walking out of the SmackDown Chamber match with the world title.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Little Jimmies (Yeah, I used it twice, but I am okay with that)

While you can appreciate what WWE is trying to do, there is no one in the world who thinks that Truth is going to be champion soon.

ALBERTO DEL RIO POSSIBLY BACK THIS WEEKEND?

The reported recovery time for Alberto Del Rio's groin injury is nearly up, so we should expect to see him return soon. He is currently being advertised for house show events this weekend in California.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Del Rio show up?

Our Take: It's doubtful. There is no reason to bring him back right now. Save him for after the Elimination Chamber. He will likely be one of the participants in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Fancy Cars

With Miz being buried down the card now, there is definitely a need for Del Rio to return. He might not be the top heel anymore, but he could be that midcard heel to feud against someone like R-Truth and Kofi Kingston.
