Will Ferrell Video: Watch Jackie Moon Introduce Bulls vs. Hornets Lineups

Josh MartinJun 3, 2018

The 2011-12 NBA season has been nothing short of abysmal for the New Orleans Hornets. Chris Paul is shining with the Los Angeles Clippers, Eric Gordon has missed all but two games and Wednesday night's loss to the visiting Chicago Bulls dropped their record to 4-22.

But at least basketball fans in the Big Easy were treated to a show before this latest blowout.

The Hornets booked Hollywood hotshot Will Ferrell, the man known to a select (and pitiable) few as Jackie Moon in Semi-Pro, to emcee the introduction of the starting lineups on '80s Night at Time Warner Cable Arena.

And, unlike the Hornets who followed, Ferrell didn't disappoint the small enclave of fans who actually showed up for the game. Ferrell warmed up the crowd by poking fun at the Bulls starters, telling the world that Carlos Boozer lives at home with his mother, Luol Deng "collects rare birds and has a pet dolphin named Chachi," Joakim Noah is a "horrible dancer" and (best of all) that Derrick Rose's favorite movie is The Notebook

I, for one, always thought D-Rose was more of a Love Actually kind of guy.

After a pointless montage of TV show clips set to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," Ferrell returned to introduce the starting five for Crescent City's "finest." As before, Ferrell was kind enough to divulge the deepest, darkest secrets to the world, like Gustavo Ayon's inability to speak English, Trevor Ariza's fondness for Bell Biv Devoe, Emeka Okafor's formal education in the ways of love, Marco Belinelli's hatred of Italian food and Jarrett Jack's dream of becoming a rodeo clown.

Even the players themselves got a nice chuckle out of the whole spectacle.

Considering how big of a joke the Hornets are as a whole right now, it's only fitting they'd invite a funny man of Ferrell's repute, seeing as how their sorry state would give any comedian worth his salt enough fodder to fill an hour.
