Kendrick Perkins Right to Blast LeBron James for Tweet After Blake Griffin Dunk

Wes ODonnellJun 4, 2018

Getting dunked on is a part of life on the basketball court.

At some point in every player's career they'll experience an embarrassing play or two. Whether it is getting dunked on, getting schooled by someone's handle or air-balling a free throw; it is legitimately inevitable that an embarrassing play will be part of any NBA player's career.

Kendrick Perkins' moment came last week when he was posterized by Blake Griffin. The dunk was almost so ridiculous that it is difficult to even call it embarrassing.

Blake Griffin is not a normal athlete and he consistently provides highlight-reel dunks on a weekly basis.

The list of players he's thrown down on grows week by week, so Perkins has absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. He knows that too and told Yahoo! Sports:

"

If I was in the same position, in the same rotation, I’m going to jump again and again and again. I don’t care. A lot of people are afraid of humiliation or don’t know how to handle embarrassment or would even get embarrassed. I don’t care.

I’m the same Perk you’re going to see. I’m still going to sign autographs the same way. I ain’t going to change. The people that move out the way and stuff are the people who have insecurity problems.

That’s my job. How will my teammates look at me if next time I just back out the way and just let him dunk when I’m supposed to be defensive-minded, a shot-blocker? That would be a coward move on me. He’d just have to dunk on me again.

"

One player who knows plenty about embarrassment is LeBron James. The Miami Heat star tweeted some unflattering commentary on the dunk and Perk didn't take too kindly to it:

The Thunder star said:

"

You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting. You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.

They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.

"

Perkins has expressed his feelings towards playing with a team and playing for a title over personal glory plenty of times before. He exemplifies what it means to be a team player.

While James has been noted time and time again for being unselfish on the court, he's had plenty of instances of being anything but off of it.

Perkins may be a little sensitive about the tweet, but he's not wrong for blasting LeBron James. The self-proclaimed "King" has no right to hit on anyone.
