Top 10 NBA In-Your-Face Dunks of the Week

Matt JonesJun 1, 2018

Blake Griffin, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Andre Iguodala are some of the most athletic dunkers in the entire NBA.

Unfortunately for each of them, they are left off this week's top 10 list.

This time around, there are some new faces—some guys who are supposed to be too old to throw it down and a guy who has recently become the talk of the entire league.

Take some time to watch and enjoy the NBA's top 10 in-your-face dunks of the week.

Honorable Mention: Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks

1 of 11

Nothing is complete these days without a little bit of Linsanity.

New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin takes the ball into the lane and finds himself dumping down a dunk on the Washington Wizards.

Lin's teammate Tyson Chandler said, via NBA.com, "I didn't know he could dunk. When he's going in for the dunk I'm like 'no Jeremy, just lay the ball up.' And all of a sudden he dunks it and I was probably just as excited as the crowd was."

The dunk was the first one of Lin's NBA career.

10. Von Wafer, Orlando Magic

2 of 11

Von Wafer of the Orlando Magic slithers through the Cleveland Cavaliers defense and gets all the way to the rim for the flush.

Wafer is nicknamed "The Dutch Cookie," and it looks like his teammate Dwight Howard thinks that this dunk is pretty sweet.

9. Jason Maxiell, Detroit Pistons

3 of 11

Detroit Pistons forward Jason Maxiell goes up high for the putback slam that makes Kris Humphries look sillier than he did during his reality show.

Humphries did not like getting dunked on and got a technical foul for tipping the ball into Maxiell's face to try to get even.

8. Jason Richardson, Orlando Magic

4 of 11

Ten-year veteran Jason Richardson shows that he still has plenty of dunking ability left in him.

Richardson, a two-time slam dunk champion, makes sure that he turns toward the defense so he can watch the reaction as he finishes the alley-oop in their faces.

7. DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors

5 of 11

Rising star DeMar DeRozan takes the play into his own hands on his way to the big finish.

DeRozan cuts quickly through the collapsing Miami Heat defense, hesitates in the air and puts it down above the rim.

It is not every day that a player dunks on LeBron James and Dwyane Wade at the same time.

6. Trevor Booker, Washington Wizards

6 of 11

Washington Wizards forward Trevor Booker runs the pick-and-roll to perfection and finishes in a big way. Booker receives a pass from teammate Nick Young and takes off in the middle of the paint.

Toronto Raptors big man Aaron Gray will think twice about getting in the way the next time Booker has the ball.

5. Taj Gibson, Chicago Bulls

7 of 11

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose draws a triple team and finds teammate Taj Gibson open in the paint.

Gibson does the rest as he throws down a monster slam over Milwaukee Bucks rookie Jon Leuer.

4. Jeff Teague, Atlanta Hawks

8 of 11

Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague represents the little guy in this week's list as he dunks on the much taller Channing Frye.

Teague takes a pass in the corner from Joe Johnson and uses a quick first step to get past Steve Nash.

By the time Frye gets there, it is too late and he knows better than to try to stop the shot.

3. DeAndre Jordan, Los Angeles Clippers

9 of 11

Los Angeles Clippers teammates Mo Williams and DeAndre Jordan team up for one of the top alley-oops of the week.

Williams drives the baseline and throws up a lob for Jordan that he has no trouble smashing home.

The two look like they have run this play hundreds of times in practice, and Jordan heads down court looking like it was no big deal.

2. Wesley Johnson, Minnesota Timberwolves

10 of 11

With a play that looks like it came out of a video game, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Wesley Johnson cleans up a mess and puts down the unintentional double alley-oop.

Rookie point guard Ricky Rubio gets the play started and throws the lob to Derrick Williams.

The Sacramento Kings defender thinks he has the play stopped as he tips the pass away, but it lands in the hands of Johnson, who catches and takes it to the rim in the same motion.

Even Johnson has a hard time believing what happened as he runs down the court.

1. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder

11 of 11

The biggest in-your-face power dunk of the week belongs to Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook, who shows why he recently signed a huge contract extension.

Westbrook finds a seam down the middle, and that is all he needs to run past the defense, elevate in the lane, pull the ball back and send it home.

Even the announcers had a hard time recovering from this one—they are left speechless.
