NBA Rumors: 5 Best Free Agents on the Market

Brandon Taylor May 31, 2018

Since the All-Star break is approaching, many teams are looking to make deals or sign free agents for the stretch run. This is no doubt an exciting time in the NBA. These are the five best free agents on the market who can help a playoff team get over the hump. These guys may not be exciting names, but they should be able to find a role in a rotation and contribute.

Gilbert Arenas

1 of 5

Arenas looked finished last year in Orlando. He lost his smooth touch and was slow around the court. The Lakers may help Arenas get back some portions of his past game. Arenas could help the Lakers because outside of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers are lacking scoring punch. Arenas may be effective in 15 minutes per game.

Rasheed Wallace

2 of 5

Many people were skeptical when Wallace announced his retirement. Wallace now has found the itch again, as he wants to come back to apparently play for the Lakers, according to Rant Sports. Mike Brown's system is structured, so if the Lakers do sign Wallace, it will be interesting to see how he fits in Los Angeles. Wallace is still probably a good post defender, but he loves to drift onto the perimeter. Then again, if Brown is letting Paul Gasol shoot threes, Wallace will probably get the green light.

Joel Przybilla

3 of 5

Przybilla is a big body who can play defense and rebound. He's not going to be a contributor on offense. His value would be adding depth and having an extra body to draw fouls against good front lines in the playoffs. Przybilla will make a decision soon on where to sign, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Leon Powe

Yeah, this crop of free agents is weak when a guy like Leon Powe makes a best free agent list. He brings more offense than Przybilla, but is undersized. His value to a team is as an extra body to help draw fouls in the playoffs. The Bulls are currently interested in Powe, according to Slamonline.com.

Kenyon Martin

5 of 5

There is a lot of debate about exactly how much Martin has left. Maybe he will be rejuvenated playing for a contender. The Miami Heat were rumored as the favorites for Martin, but Martin has reportedly agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, but Martin's Chinese team has reportedly blocked the move, according to this report. We will see how this plays out.
