NBA All-Star Game Snubs 2012: LaMarcus Aldridge and the 10 Most Likely Snubs

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

The starters are set to be announced for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game tonight on TNT.

Once that's done, the rest of the roster is up for debate. There a a ton of worthy All-Stars and not everyone can make the team.

That means there are going to be several worthy candidates that will be snubbed from this year's team.

Let's take an early look at the top 10 players that could be left out of this season's game.

LaMarcus Aldridge

1 of 10

Aldridge deserved to make the Western Conference team a season ago and definitely deserves to make it this season as well.

He's seventh in the NBA in scoring at 22.6 points per game, but very well could be left off the team again in favor of veterans Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki.

As we know from the past, just because you deserve to be an All-Star doesn't mean you get to be one.

Kyle Lowry

2 of 10

Lowry is having a great season and is currently among the top handful of point guards in the NBA.

Yet that probably won't be enough to get him selected as a Western Conference reserve.

The final guard spot could come down to Lowry and Russell Westbrook, and Lowry likely will end up with the short end of the stick.

Marcin Gortat

3 of 10

Gortat is having a very good season in Phoenix and will be in competition with Marc Gasol and a handful of others for the backup center spot.

With the Suns having a poor season, Gortat could be left off the Western Conference roster.

Rudy Gay

4 of 10

Gay is healthy and having a solid season in Memphis. He's worthy of a selection, but the Western Conference frontcourt could be one of the best units in All-Star Game history so there are going to be some deserving players left off.

Danilo Gallinari

5 of 10

Gallinari is the leading scorer on a Denver team that has the third-best record in the Western Conference.

There will be plenty of All-Star appearances in the future for Gallinari, but there's just too much talent up front for the West this season.

David Lee

6 of 10

Lee is putting together another solid season and is nearly averaging a double-double for the season.

His resume is worthy of being named as a reserve, but there are a couple other forwards that should be selected before him that probably won't.

Brandon Jennings

7 of 10

Jennings has matured nicely for Milwaukee and is averaging over 20 points per contest this season.

He's worthy of a selection, but while the Western Conference is loaded in the frontcourt, the Eastern Conference is loaded in the backcourt.

Unless the East considers one less forward and an extra guard instead then it's unlikely that Jennings will get the opportunity this season.

Roy Hibbert

8 of 10

The Indiana Pacers deserve an All-Star and Hibbert could be the backup center for the East, a spot that normally would be reserved for Al Horford.

However, he could lose out to Tyson Chandler, who has the bigger name.

Joe Johnson

9 of 10

The NBA's quietest superstar has been a big reason why the Hawks have kept on winning after the injury to Al Horford.

Teammate Josh Smith is also deserving and likely will make the team for the first time, so Johnson could see his string of All-Star selections snapped.

Ryan Anderson

10 of 10

Anderson wasn't even on the All-Star ballot but is putting together a solid season.

With the game being played in Orlando he should be considered, but likely won't have a chance.
