Memphis Grizzlies and the 7 Scrappiest NBA Teams
They may not grace the nightly highlight reels.
They may not have top-flight NBA talent, but rest assured that these teams give it their all every time they step onto the floor.
That's because they are scrappy.
They may not be as talented as some of the better teams in the NBA, but those more talented teams know that they are in for a 48 minute fight every time they step onto the floor with one of these teams.
Here's a look at the scrappiest teams in the NBA this season.
Memphis Grizzlies
1 of 7They don't have a roster filled with All-Stars, but Lionel Hollins gets the most out of his roster.
Even without Zach Randolph for most of the season, the Grizzlies are still a tough opposition for almost every NBA team on a nightly basis.
Don't get me wrong, the Grizzlies have talent. Very good talent.
They don't do any one thing particularly well, but they are a scrappy bunch though.
Memphis will scratch and claw from opening tip to the final whistle.
If they make a run and get into the playoffs, that scrappiness alone makes them a tough out for whoever they get matched up against.
Philadelphia 76ers
2 of 7The Sixers are another team that's scrappy and gets after the opposition.
They force turnovers on the defensive end and plays hard until the whistle blows.
It's rare for the opposition to get easy baskets against this scrappy Philadelphia team.
Dallas Mavericks
3 of 7I know, how can the defending NBA champions be called a scrappy team?
That's exactly what they are though this season.
After a worse then slow start to the season, Dallas has got themselves back into things in the Western Conference by being scrappy.
Especially on the defensive end of the floor, where they have made up for a mediocre offense by doing what it takes to win.
Atlanta Hawks
4 of 7The Hawks are another scrappy and resourceful bunch.
The loss of Al Horford was barely felt as Atlanta keeps on winning.
They do have a superstar in Joe Johnson, but this team is quiet and their scrappiness makes them very tough to play against.
Chicago Bulls
5 of 7They have the reigning MVP in Derrick Rose, but they are a scrappy team and not a flashy one.
Up and down the roster they are committed.
It doesn't matter if it's diving after a loose ball, grabbing a big rebound or making a defensive stop, the Bulls will do it and do it well.
Indiana Pacers
6 of 7The Pacers are young and scrappy and it's turning into wins.
They are another team that's not flashy and won't be dominating the highlights, but this team gets it done in whatever fashion they have to on a nightly basis.
San Antonio Spurs
7 of 7A Greg Popovich coached team is going to be a scrappy one.
At least at home anyway.
The Spurs are a much different team at home then they are on the road, but like any Popovich team, they don't do any one particular thing great, but they do everything very well.
