NFL Draft 2012: Matt Kalil and 5 Prospects Guaranteed NFL Success
Everyone at the NFL Draft is trying to find a sure-thing NFL player.
It's a lot easier said than done.
With that said, there are some players that will be sure things in the NFL. They were good in college, and their games will translate perfectly to the NFL.
There are probably more than five, but the players I have included are going to be very good NFL players.
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Luck is the consensus No. 1 pick. He has Jim Irsay and Peyton Manning acting like a high school couple. He has Indianapolis Colts fans wondering if they will lose a legend.
Even if they lose Manning, which would be a travesty, the Colts are going to be in good shape. Luck did incredible things in college—things so advanced that his transition should be relatively quick.
Obviously, there will be a learning curve, but you can be sure that Luck will be an NFL Pro Bowler.
Quinton Coples, DL, North Carolina
Coples is a defensive lineman who can play just about every position. He is best-suited for the defensive end position in a 4-3, but he could also adjust and play in a 3-4.
Essentially, he can play wherever his team will need him to play.
This versatility will give him a long career in the NFL. It may take him a while to become a star, but Coples' versatility makes him a sure-fire NFL playmaker.
Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
Some people believe that Kuechly's speed will prevent him from being an inside linebacker in the NFL. Even still, his work ethic and on-field motor will give him a chance to be successful in the league.
At some point, he may have to move to outside linebacker, but that won't prevent him from being a very good NFL player. He has great football instincts, and he will make big-time plays, with or without great speed.
Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
Many people have compared Blackmon to Terrell Owens. While it might be a little early to predict that good of a career, Blackmon has the ability become a great receiver.
He has sure hands, great athleticism and big-play ability. When you combine that into one receiver, there might not be a simple comparison. By the end of his career, we'll be talking about the one-and-only Justin Blackmon.
Matt Kalil, OT, USC
Kalil is the real deal. He is big, strong and fast. He had a great career at USC, and he is ready to continue that great career in the NFL.
There isn't really a serious concern with Kalil, which is the sign of a great lineman. He can protect a quarterback's blind side for at least a decade. There is no reason not to expect big things from Kalil.
He's the type of lineman that can change a team's fortune by protecting the QB. When it comes down to it, Kalil is the surest thing in the 2012 NFL Draft.
