NFL Draft 2012: Late First-Round Studs That Super Bowl-Bound Teams Need
The New York Giants and New England Patriots will have the last two picks in the draft, considering they made the Super Bowl and all.
Of course it’s early, but it's never too early to start thinking about the 2013 Super Bowl. If these two teams want to bolster their chances at repeating as conference champions, they need to hit a home run with their No. 31 or 32 pick in the 2012 Draft.
Here are some beasts that could be available and would be a fit for what each team has currently built.
New York Giants
Zach Brown
This freakishly athletic outside linebacker is a project, but the G-Men certainly have not shied away from those in the past.
Look at Jason Pierre-Paul, now a Pro Bowler in his second year in the NFL, who only played one season of top-level college football at South Florida.
Brown has great ability in coverage due to his immense speed, good hands and decent size at 6’3”, 230 pounds.
Zebrie Sanders
The Giants' most glaring problem this year has been their running game. Perhaps it isn’t the ineffectiveness of their rushers that is causing them to perform so badly, and it certainly could be the offensive lines’ fault as well.
Sanders would be able to help right away, helping clear running lanes and keeping Eli Manning safe.
New England Patriots
Mohamed Sanu
The Rutgers product is big, strong and fast enough to be a legitimate WR in the NFL.
Bill Belichick must know that Tom Brady’s championship window will not be open forever and he could use some help by adding a legit No. 1 receiver in the offense.
Janoris Jenkins
This guy may have off-the-field issues, but the fact remains that he has looked solid when he is on the gridiron.
The Pats are a team that loves to take risks on players with gobs of talent and character issues, plus they have a decent track record at coaxing success out of them.
Jenkins is a top-10 talent who could immediately bolster the thin secondary up in New England.
