NBA Trade Speculation: 7 Teams That Need a Makeover
With the NBA season a quarter of the way through, the good news is that there is still time for some struggling teams to make a move or two in order to get themselves in contention.
On the other hand, there's also some really bad teams that can dump some players in order to rebuild.
Here's a look at some struggling teams that could use a makeover.
Boston Celtics
1 of 7Boston has had a better time of things this week, but they aren't realistic title contenders by any stretch of the imagination.
If they don't get hot in the next week or so, it may be time to dump the Big Three on some other teams and get ready to start over.
Los Angeles Lakers
2 of 7The Lakers desperately need to make some moves if they want to compete, but they don't have to make major moves.
That way they hold onto Andrew Bynum in the process.
The most pressing need on this team is to acquire some much-needed shooting since the Lakers have none.
A quality point guard is also in order, but again, it doesn't have to be Deron Williams right now. Just someone good enough to handle the ball, make some open shots and get the Lakers into their offense effectively.
New Orleans Hornets
3 of 7If you're going to bad, it's better to realize it and unload enough talent to make a difference in the future.
The Hornets have some talent that could help some contenders, including the expiring contract of Chris Kaman, who almost every team would have interest in.
Phoenix Suns
4 of 7Almost everyone on the Suns' roster not named Markieff Morris should be available and actively pushed out the door for the right price, and that includes Steve Nash.
Nash hasn't demanded a trade, but that doesn't mean the Suns can't shop him.
If you are going to rebuild, why waste time?
Golden State Warriors
5 of 7Sure, the Warriors have a young and talented backcourt in Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, but it's not going to get them wins.
Golden State is severely undersized and has trouble matching up with teams on a nightly basis.
They would be better off with one of the guards paired with David Lee and another quality big man.
It's easier to find another quality guard in the draft than it is to find a legitimate frontcourt guy. They would be better served to flip one of their guards for that coveted big guy.
New Jersey Nets
6 of 7The Nets need a makeover badly, and it looks like they will gamble by holding onto Deron Williams even if they can't land Dwight Howard.
If that's the case, everyone except Williams and Marshon Brooks should be made available to bring in as much young talent and free as much cap space as possible.
They may need the cap room if they have to turn to Plan B next year.
Charlotte Bobcats
7 of 7The Bobcats are awful.
They can't seem to get enough talent in Charlotte, and when they do, they can't hold onto them.
Kemba Walker and a handful of younger players should be untouchable, but everyone else should be moved.
