Players with the Most to Prove in Super Bowl XLVI

B/R StudiosJun 7, 2018

The New York Giants vs. New England Patriots Super Bowl is a matchup filled with plenty of hype.

Probably the two biggest storylines are whether or not Tom Brady and the Patriots can serve redemption to the Giants and bring home another Super Bowl championship and whether or not Eli Manning can prove once and for all he deserves to be mentioned with the elite.

A win for Brady and the Patriots will rely not only on Brady’s quarterback play, but also on the Patriots defense, most notably their secondary. Up front, the Patriots looked pretty good against the Ravens—making big plays, getting inside for tackles for a loss and holding star running back Ray Rice to 67 yards.

However, they still allowed Flacco to throw for plenty of yards through the air, totaling 306 on the day.  With that said, the Patriots know that they were one blown Billy Cundiff chip shot away from not seeing the Super Bowl this year.

Brady, in particular, has plans to pick up his performance and there is no doubt Bill Belichick will have the game plan ready and the team focused come Super Bowl Sunday.

For the Giants, Manning has the opportunity to solidify his spot amongst great quarterbacks by getting his second Super Bowl win in his career, surpassing Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and big brother Peyton  Manning. The debate over whether Manning is good enough to be mentioned with today's current best would officially be over, if it isn’t already.

Despite bad weather and poor protection against the 49ers, Manning fought like a warrior all game to get the win for New York while giving up zero turnovers.
