Nike Plans to Release a Truly "Revolutionary" Product on 1.19.2012 #makeitcount

Peter EmerickJun 7, 2018

Nike has something special up their sleeves, and this time it doesn't involve the Oregon Ducks or anything titled "pro-combat."

On January 19, 2012, Nike plans to release a product that truly "revolutionizes" the way people train and workout.

In this special 1.19.12 promo video, the following statement was made from Nike:

"On 1.19.12 Nike will release a revolutionary product designed for all kinds of playmakers like these ..."

Following that statement, there are video clips of Kevin Durant playing basketball, Hope Solo doing some sort of martial arts training and another female athlete appearing to do dips.

The promotional video goes on to include more video clips of regular people skateboarding, walking, running, playing basketball, running parkour and throwing baseballs.

The video ends with with the words "The year is 2012" painted on a road sign, as a taxi drives away with #makeitcount painted on the trunk of the taxi.

So what exactly does that all add up to?

While everything at the moment is pure speculation, there is reason to believe, mainly based on the Nike swoosh followed by the + sign, that the product they are releasing is going to bear some resemblance to their hit Nike+ product that was first released in 2006.

It could be something completely disconnected from that product, but it's realistic to think that the product released could be some type of Nike+ integration into monitoring the cardio and caloric production of cross-training workouts and playing sports like golf, basketball, baseball, tennis, and the list goes on.

1.19.12 will be a memorable day for Nike, with yet another release of a product aimed to revolutionize the way people workout and train.

Unlike other athletic companies like Reebok, New Balance and Adidas, Nike has yet to release a product that hasn't had a serious positive impact on the athletic universe.  There's a high likelihood that this new Nike product will live up to the hype, but if for some reason it doesn't I'll be here to break it down for you.

Until 1.19.12 comes, check out these promotional #makeitcount videos posted on Nike's official YouTube account.
