Giants vs. Packers: Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs Are Keys to a Giants Upset

Austin GreenJun 5, 2018

Eli Manning has been torching teams lately, but the Giants will need strong performances from Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs if they are going to upset the Green Bay Packers.

Manning had the best regular season of his career, throwing for nearly 5,000 yards and an NFL-record 15 fourth quarter touchdown passes. However, as good as he's been, there's no way he can win a shootout against Aaron Rodgers and the potent Green Bay passing attack.

The Packers are 15-1 because they can outgun every other team in the league. But as the Kansas City Chiefs proved in Week 15, if you can keep Rodgers and his weapons off the field, Green Bay is as vulnerable as anybody.

The unheralded Chiefs provided the blueprint for taking down the Packers, eat up clock, harass Rodgers at every opportunity and pray that he misfires more than usual.

Bradshaw and Jacobs will be instrumental in keeping Rodgers on the sideline. If they can run the ball with consistency, they will give their team a huge boost.

The Giants finished the regular season dead last in rushing yards per game (89.2). Those numbers are a bit deceiving, however. Jacobs and Bradshaw combined for 1,230 yards and 16 touchdowns this season and both have proven they can be 1,000 yard runners in a featured role.

Last week, they were excellent in the Giants 24-2 beatdown of the Atlanta Falcons. They combined for 28 carries and 155 yards (5.5 yards per carry). Both had carries of 30 or more yards and both ran with a violent attitude, rumbling over any defenders that stepped in their path.

If New York's two-headed running back monster has similar success this week, the Giants will have a great chance of upsetting the Packers.
