Rasheed Wallace Is Reportedly Eying a Return to the NBA

Jun 5, 2018

Rasheed Wallace may not be finished racking up technical fouls in the NBA after all. The latest word around the campfire is that he's considering making a comeback.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Wallace has been working out and is currently "probing" some friends around the league about possible destinations for his talents.

But alas, no teams contacted by Yahoo! Sports have been in contact with Wallace or his people.

Wallace, 37, last played in 2009-2010 with the Boston Celtics, who lost the NBA Finals in seven games to the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite being away from the league for close to two years, a source claims he is "serious" about making a return.

If a team is on the lookout for a veteran big man that they can bring off the bench, they will no doubt consider Wallace. It's not like there are many other players out there who fit the bill.

One thing working in Wallace's favor is that the 2011-2012 season has been condensed and it is already underway. There are only so many games left to play, and that would conceivably help Wallace stay fresh.

If a team can bring itself to gamble on Wallace staying in shape, the question will be if he has lost any of his skills during his time away from the game. During his career, Wallace was a versatile scorer and a solid defender.

However, Wallace was also something of a loose cannon. He holds the all-time record for technical fouls with 304, and he also holds the record for most technical fouls in a single season.

Given Wallace's reputation, teams could easily decide he's not worth the headache.

We'll see. If Wallace does end up making a comeback, it will be because one team was desperate enough to give him a call.
