WWE News: Complete Raw Preview, Rumors, News and More for Jan. 9

Donald WoodJan 9, 2012

With another week of WWE Raw on the docket, there are so many interesting things going on, that two hours just isn’t enough time to fit it all in.

With hopes that Chris Jericho talks, and that this character he is developing doesn’t suck, I wish all of you a happy Monday. Let’s hope Raw is better this week than last week’s episode.

What’s Happening? Will Chris Jericho Speak?

After what I viewed as an uber disappointing comeback, but many fans thought was excellent, the hope from all is that we learn more about Jericho’s new character and where it’s headed.

I understand that he has the power to play himself from a face to a heel in a matter of a segment or two, but WWE needs a quick shot in the arm. What Jericho is giving us is a slow burn.

While the fans call for WWE to slow play most storylines, WWE allowed Jericho too much freedom and killed all the momentum from the videos. Whether they save it will depend on tonight’s show.

CM Punk vs. John Laurinaitis

How can people complain to me about the Daniel Bryan vs. Michael Cole feud, when CM Punk is going against one of the biggest dorks in the WWE?

I love Punk fighting the authority figure in Johnny Ace, but the fact that he is interim general manager means he is really nothing special. At least we get to see Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk in the meantime.

This is just another way for WWE to keep CM Punk from being the biggest star in the show. The hope is that WWE starts a program with Jericho sooner rather than later, because Punk is going nowhere fast right now.

Is John Cena turning Heel or What?

It is so hard to tell what the WWE is doing with John Cena, but it has all the markings of a classic heel turn. The problem is that John Cena is too big of a face to turn—yet.

With word that The Rock may be coming back full-time at the end of February, the idea may be to drag this out for a while longer, and make him a heel for the match at WrestleMania against Rock.

As much as I love John Cena, even I will admit it’s time for a gimmick change. It’s just hard to imagine the WWE doing something that could cost them money.

Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker

Rumor coming out today is that the WWE is seriously considering Brock Lesnar as Undertaker’s 20th opponent for WrestleMania 28. While many fans hate it, I love the idea.

Lesnar is still a huge star no matter what his MMA career was like. If the WWE can benefit financially at all, then this plan is feasible. Money trumps hard feelings in the WWE.

If this match is added to an already cool main event, there is a chance that WrestleMania 28 could be the most anticipated Pay-Per-View in history. It would set all kinds of Pay-Per-View records.

Is Daniel Bryan Turning Heel?

A Napoleon complex is when a person that is short refuses to believe it, and makes himself sound much tougher than he really is. That’s what they’re doing with Daniel Bryan.

Gaining that swagger and cockiness is the first step in turning a WWE superstar to the dark side, and that’s where it appears Bryan is heading. Imagine Bryan as a Christian-type heel.

While I still feel the inevitable WWE burial of Bryan and his talents is closer than it appears, we have to enjoy it while we still can or it will be gone before we know it.
