Wemby, Donovan Mitchell and All Contestants Revealed for 2025 NBA Skills Competition
There will be a mixture of veterans, young stars and some of the NBA's biggest names at the 2025 Kia Skills Challenge during this month's All-Star weekend.
On Friday, the NBA announced the field for the competition that will feature four teams of two. Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, and Draymond Green and Moses Moody of the Golden State Warriors will make up three of the teams, while Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr will make up the rookie team.
The Skills Challenge will be the first event of All-Star Saturday Night and will be followed by the Three-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest.
Green and Moody will have home-court advantage, as this year's All-Star Weekend is taking place at the Warriors' Chase Center. That, along with Green's ability to do a little bit of everything on the floor, will surely help their chances.
It was just last year that Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers captured the Skills Challenge title in front of the hometown crowd in Indianapolis.
But winning at home will be much easier said than done for Golden State, given the level of competition.
Wembanyama can dribble and shoot like a guard even at his size, while Paul is one of the best point guards of his generation and is no stranger to some of the skill sets necessary to thrive in this competition.
And the Cavaliers have the most wins in the NBA at 41-10 in large part because of the individual brilliance of both Mitchell and Mobley.
The biggest unknown for the competition will be the rookies.
Fittingly, it will be the top two picks of last year's draft, as Risacher (Atlanta Hawks) went first with Sarr (Washington Wizards) hearing his name called second. They are both still finding their footing in the NBA on their respective teams, but this will be the opportunity to make a statement on the national stage.
