NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving Attends Mavs Practices in LA Amid Hand Injury Rehab
Kyrie Irving, who is rehabbing from a broken left hand suffered during an offseason workout, has been in attendance (but has not participated) in practices in Los Angeles this week attended by his Dallas Mavericks teammates.
The 32-year-old Irving just helped guide Dallas to the Western Conference title. He averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds along the way.
Irving was sensational at times during the playoffs, perhaps none more than when he scored 36 points on 14-of-27 shooting in a closeout win over the Minnesota Timberwolves to guide the Mavs to the NBA Finals.
Dallas clearly needs a healthy Irving to be at its best in its quest for back-to-back Western Conference titles and perhaps the team's first championship in 13 years. He's a phenomenal closer and forms one of the game's elite one-two punches alongside Luka Dončić.
Fortunately, Irving still has two more months to recuperate with Dallas' season not starting until Oct. 24 against the San Antonio Spurs. Training camp also doesn't start until September, with the preseason beginning Oct. 7 versus the Memphis Grizzlies.
