Kevin Durant's USA Olympic Record Celebrated in Deion Sanders-Narrated Nike Video

Scott PolacekAug 6, 2024

Nike didn't waste much time celebrating Kevin Durant becoming the all-time highest scorer in United States Olympic basketball history.

"There's a Reaper," Colorado football coach Deion Sanders narrated in a video released Tuesday. "And every four years, your time runs out. You might forget your debts, but he's ready to collect."

The comments are a reference to Durant's "Slim Reaper" nickname and come after the future Hall of Famer helped lead the Americans to a dominant 122-87 victory over Brazil in Tuesday's quarterfinal matchup at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Durant surpassed Lisa Leslie's record of 488 career Olympic points during the contest as he scored 11 points off the bench.

The WNBA legend congratulated him and called him "one of my all-time favorites!"

Durant helped lead the Red, White and Blue to gold medals in the 2012 London Games, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the 2020 Tokyo Games. Regardless of what happens during the rest of the Paris Games, he will forever be an Olympic legend for the United States.

Leslie is as well after helping lead the Americans to gold in the 1996 Atlanta Games, 2000 Sydney Games, 2004 Athens Games and 2008 Beijing Games.

Durant is just two wins away from matching her total of four gold medals. His United States team has yet to be challenged to this point and will likely accomplish the feat as long as it continues to play at such a high level.
