Early Candidates for Worst NBA Team
There are some teams looking really bad early on in the 2011-12 NBA season, and it's a trend that could very well stick throughout the entire year.
It's early enough where the clubs on this list could certainly buck the trend and get into the win column, but each is playing a brand of basketball that leaves a lot to be desired by their fans.
Nobody likes to watch their team struggle, but with a shortened season and games coming fast and furious on the schedule, these guys have got to adjust to try and right the ship.
Detroit Pistons
1 of 4Record: 2-4
The Pistons have looked better since the season initially began, but there is still a lot to be desired from this team at both ends of the floor.
The inconsistent play from the small forward position hurts the club, and the lack of depth in the second unit has become a glaringly obvious problem.
Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva haven't stepped up, and that will have to change to increase production off the bench.
New Jeresey Nets
2 of 4Record: 1-6
The Nets are playing without Brook Lopez (stress fracture in his foot), and put a lineup on the floor on Wednesday night against the Celtics that was downright embarrassing.
Deron Williams is nursing sore ribs, Kris Humphries has a shoulder sprain (although neither should be long-term injuries), and the balance of Mehmet Okur and Johan Petro hasn't come close to filling the void left by Lopez.
For a team that mortgaged a lot of its future in order to acquire Williams before the trade deadline last season, the club isn't doing much to convince him to re-sign for the long haul.
Sacramento Kings
3 of 4Record: 2-5
The Kings had questions about their perimeter defense before the year began, and that has been fully exposed by the opposition through the first seven games.
Furthermore, the consistent and unnecessary dribbling has really stalled the offense, and the team is struggling to find good ball movement.
Combine that with Paul Westphal's inexplicable and always changing method of rotating his players, and it could very well be a recipe for disaster.
Washington Wizards
4 of 4Record: 0-6
The Wizards are the only team without a win in the NBA about two weeks into the regular season.
Andray Blatche was a less than inspiring choice for team captain, and John Wall appears to be the only player interested in playing as a team rather than a bunch of individuals all wearing the same uniform.
There is a lot of young talent on the roster, but until the group can learn to play together and build better chemistry, the struggles are likely to continue.
