NBA Rumors: Heat's Terry Rozier Avoids Major Knee Injury, Week-to-Week After MRI
The Miami Heat and guard Terry Rozier reportedly received some welcome news Monday regarding the injury he suffered during Sunday's game against the Boston Celtics.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, an MRI revealed Rozier suffered a sprained right knee and "avoided any major injury." The plan is for him to be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, but he should return this season for Miami.
The veteran suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly during a drive in the third quarter.

He wasn't the only member of the Heat who suffered an injury during the 110-106 loss to Boston. Josh Richardson suffered a shoulder injury and told reporters, "I felt my shoulder pop out on the floor and then it popped back in laying on the ground, so thank goodness for that."
Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Richardson was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and is expected to miss more than two weeks.
As for Rozier, he was still working his way into Miami's rotation when he suffered the setback. The Heat acquired him from the Charlotte Hornets for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-round draft pick in January.
He has averaged 12.6 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 35.9 percent from the field and 23.4 percent from deep in 10 games for Miami since the trade. The scoring totals are down from his first 30 games this season with the Hornets when he averaged 23.2 points on 45.9 percent shooting from the field and 35.8 percent from deep.
The timing of the injuries is less than ideal for the Heat, who start a six-game road trip with a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
They are 28-25 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings and will need to effectively tread water without Rozier and Richardson if they are going to challenge for a top-six seed to avoid the play-in tournament.
