Kings HC Mike Brown Says 76ers' Tyrese Maxey is 'Fearless' Like Allen Iverson

Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown heaped massive praise on Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey, comparing his fearlessness to that of franchise legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson.

Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints relayed the remarks.

Brown made his comments in advance of the Kings' road game against the 76ers on Friday evening.

Maxey is enjoying a breakout season in his fourth NBA campaign, averaging 26.6 points and 6.7 assists per game. He's taken over as the 76ers' No. 2 option after Philadelphia traded James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers. The 76ers have excelled with Maxey running the show alongside Joel Embiid, going 23-13 (good enough for third place in the Eastern Conference).

Obviously, being compared to Iverson in any capacity is noteworthy given his tremendous on-court success. The 2000-01 NBA MVP is an 11-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion who made seven All-NBA teams and earned a spot on the league's 75th Anniversary Team. Iverson also led the 76ers to their last Eastern Conference title in 2001.

Maxey appears to be on an All-NBA trajectory given his play this year. He's certainly earned plenty of respect from Brown and others as he continues his sensational season.

For now, Maxey is trying to lead the 76ers without Embiid, who is currently out with a knee injury. Philadelphia is also trying to break a three-game losing streak as well.
