Report: Jimmy Garoppolo, Raiders 'All Good' Despite Press Conference Postponement
The Las Vegas Raiders postponed the introductory press conference for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo until Friday, according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, and the team declined to comment on the reason for the delay.
A source told The Athletic's Jeff Howe that everything was "all good" between Garoppolo and the team, however, and there weren't any additional snags in finalizing a contract. That deal hasn't yet been officially completed, as Reed noted, though contract terms were agreed upon as of Monday.
Garoppolo was always in the team facilities on Thursday, so whatever the delay wasn't keeping him away from the Raiders entirely:

The Raiders' offseason has revolved primarily around the decision to cut ties with Derek Carr and bring aboard Garoppolo, so any hiccup to those proceedings would be a major story.
Granted, there's an argument to be made that Garoppolo's signing is nothing more than a lateral move, if that. The 31-year-old has never been more than a game-manager in his career, with his best season coming in 2019 as San Francisco's starter (3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 69.1 completion percentage, 36 sacks taken).
Carr, meanwhile, has four Pro Bowls under his belt, four seasons with 4,000 or more passing yards and one season with 30 or more passing touchdowns. Carr's upside as a player has traditionally been higher than Jimmy G. has offered.
But Garoppolo is a better system fit in Josh McDaniels' scheme, dating back to their time together in New England. Sometimes, the better fit is the preferable option to the more talented overall player if they aren't naturally inclined to the scheme.
The Raiders have had a fascinating offseason, trading star tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants but signing former New England Patriots wideout Jakobi Meyers, among other moves. The team was a colossal disappointment in 2022, finishing just 6-11 despite making some flashy moves, including the trade for superstar wideout Davante Adams.
McDaniels and Garoppolo are now tasked with returning the team closer to expectations. As soon as Jimmy G. is officially signed and introduced, that is.
