Lakers' LeBron James Has Worked on Skyhook While Chasing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Record
It is already going to be a memorable moment when LeBron James passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record for the most career points in NBA history.
But the King may make it even more memorable if he scores the basket to put him over Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 points with the big man's signature shot.
Joe Vardon of The Athletic noted "James worked on Kareem's skyhook with his trainers" ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers' victory over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. Perhaps he will seize the opportunity to pay homage to the Hall of Famer with such a shot.
James enters Tuesday's contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder just 35 points behind the all-time record. If he doesn't break in that game, he likely will in Thursday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Both games are at home, and Milwaukee was the other team Abdul-Jabbar played for outside of the Lakers during his legendary career. Breaking the record in a contest between Abdul-Jabbar's two teams with a skyhook would certainly be a fitting way to make history.
