Bulls Trade Rumors: 'Vultures Are Circling' Alex Caruso amid Knicks, Warriors Buzz

Scott PolacekJan 29, 2023

The Chicago Bulls are among the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season, and multiple teams would reportedly jump at the chance to add Alex Caruso ahead of the trade deadline if the Eastern Conference squad decides to shift into sell mode.

"The vultures are circling," K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported while listing the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks as potential suitors who would be interested in a trade.

Chicago is 23-26 on the season and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings, which would not even be good enough for the play-in tournament. That stands in stark contrast to last season, when it was the No. 1 seed for stretches and comfortably made the playoffs even after falling to the No. 6 spot.

It may eventually decide to look toward the future with Lonzo Ball still sidelined with a knee injury, Nikola Vučević scheduled for free agency and DeMar DeRozan turning 34 in August.

Caruso is someone who could land the Bulls younger players or draft picks, especially if there is a bidding war between teams such as the Warriors and Knicks. The 28-year-old can stretch the floor with his outside shooting at 38.7 percent from three-point range, but the 6'4" guard is best known for his physical defense and ability to defend multiple positions.

That could take some of the pressure off Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson for the Warriors or Jalen Brunson in New York if he was part of their backcourt rotation.
