76ers' Joel Embiid Fined $25K for DX Chop Celebration vs. Nets
The NBA has fined Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid $25,000 for "making an obscene gesture on the playing court" after a third-quarter layup during his team's 137-133 home win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
Embiid did the "suck it" chop first popularized by the then-World Wrestling Federation's D-Generation X stable during the late 1990s.
The referees did not assess a foul on Embiid, who hit the ensuing free throw for a 94-77 lead. He finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds to propel the 31-16 76ers to their sixth straight win.
