Miami Dolphins: With Less Depth in Draft, Matt Flynn Should Be Prime Target
Miami's 2011 campaign is officially over. Despite a rough season, they ended on a high note, winning six of their last nine, ending with a victory over the archrival New York Jets.
Miami will have the eighth pick in the draft behind quarterback-needy teams Washington and Cleveland, and with Matt Barkley returning to USC for his senior season, I'm no longer liking the depth of this year's quarterback class.
My quarterback rankings play out like this:
1. Andrew Luck
4. Nick Foles
5. Ryan Tannehill
Except for Luck and Griffin, none of the rest of my top five should make their way into the Top 10 of the draft.
With that, the Dolphins should look into trading for a quarterback.
Enter Matt Flynn.
The fourth-year quarterback from LSU—where he won a national championship in his only year starting—has only made two-starts in his career, but he has been simply amazing in both of them, combining to go 55-81 for 731 yards with nine touchdowns to two interceptions.
Flynn has everything that Miami needs in a quarterback.
He is developed, but still has a long career in front of him, has great accuracy, is somewhat mobile and has a nice arm.
While Miami is not nearly as talented as Green Bay, we have several nice weapons for Flynn to utilize with Jake Long and Mike Pouncey on the line, Brandon Marshall at receiver and Reggie Bush at running back,
Please Miami, make the right call, and get Flynn so you can use the 2012 draft to load up with even more talent.
