New York Jets Will Reportedly Target Norv Turner to Join Rex Ryan's Staff
Norv Turner may not be around in San Diego much longer, but the Chargers' loss might just turn out to be the New York Jets' gain.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter (via Rotoworld), Turner is expected to be among the Jets' top offensive coordinator targets this offseason.
Turner has yet to be officially fired by the 7-8 Chargers, but it is a move that is expected to happen, possibly as early as Monday. San Diego has a lot of talent but will fail to make the playoffs for the second straight year.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It's hard to imagine Turner keeping his job.
Fortunately for the Jets, he would be a great fit for them.
First of all, let's take a look at the need for the Jets to find a new offensive coordinator.
There's no question that if New York doesn't make the playoffs—and still even if they do—Brian Schottenheimer will be the scapegoat for the poor season.
The Jets' offense ranks 27th in the league in yards per game, 22nd in third-down conversions, 30th in yards per rush, 27th in completion percentage and 26th in yards per pass. And the poor offensive numbers go on and on.
Changes are needed on the offensive side of the ball and those changes start with replacing Schottenheimer. They've been too mediocre on that side of the field for too long. It's as simple as that.
But is Turner really the right replacement?
As the Rotoworld report points out, there wouldn't be a huge change from the system of Schottenheimer to Turner's system.
""(Turner's) system is similar to Schottenheimer's, particularly in terminology, so Mark Sanchez wouldn't need to 'learn a new offense.' Turner also has an impressive track record working with young quarterbacks, from Philip Rivers on down to Alex Smith."
"
That's extremely important, but the positives go further than that. Turner has failed to get the most out of his players, yes, but there's no question he's always put together explosive offenses. And he won't be asked to motivate his players as much because that's still head coach Rex Ryan's job.
All Turner will have to concentrate on is developing Mark Sanchez past his current mediocrity and get this offense at least to the middle of the league. That's all.
Imagine pairing Ryan's defensive prowess with Turner's offensive genius. That's a pretty scary combination for the other 31 teams in the NFL.
