NFL Playoff Predictions: Denver Broncos and More Teams That Will Be One and Done

Nicholas GossDec 27, 2011

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are one of several teams that will be one and done in the NFL playoffs this season.

Inexperience and elite competition is not a good combination for teams with young quarterbacks such as the Broncos, and the cold weather doesn't help matters either.

Let's look at three NFL teams who will fail to win a playoff game this season.

1. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans' chances of doing well in the playoffs were severely diminished when starting quarterback Matt Schaub went down for the season with an injury.

Third-string quarterback TJ Yates is the starter right now after Matt Leinart was lost for the season too, and Yates' inexperience as a rookie will hurt the Texans in January.

Houston has lost its last two games, which were both against weak opponents, the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts, and the offense looked bad at times in both those losses.

Yates has three interceptions and four fumbles since becoming the starter, and I can't see him leading a game-winning fourth quarter drive against a good defense like Cincinnati or Pittsburgh.

2. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled in the playoffs in recent seasons despite having some very talented teams, and even though quarterback Tony Romo is having a good season, he won't be able to get Dallas past the wild-card round next month.

Dallas was 1-3 in December with its only victory coming against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are one of the NFL's worst teams.

Against potential playoff teams this season, the Cowboys are 1-4. Romo's previous playoff struggles and the lack of a dangerous running game will doom Dallas in the playoffs.

3. Denver Broncos

Tebow hasn't looked good the past two weeks against the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, and those two losses have raised the level of concern for Broncos fans as the playoffs near.

Tebow threw four interceptions against the Bills in Week 16 and just looked awful at times. Against a Bengals, Jets or Steelers defense in the playoffs, he would struggle mightily.

Since Tebow became the starter for the Broncos this season, the Broncos have played two very good teams, the Patriots and Lions, and Tebow was poor in both those games, which were Denver losses.

The Broncos will make the playoffs, but Tebow won't be able to beat a talented defense in the cold weather against immense postseason pressure.
