Little Caesars Bowl 2011: High-Scoring Affair Re-Ignites Bowl Season

Every year, we get a Bowl game that reminds us of how awesome this time can be. The Little Caesars Bowl was the right amount of offense to bring me back into the living room for Bowl season. 

The Bowl season started with the right amount of squeakers and scoring, but the same thing that happens once again took place as I became bored with the product. There is simply far too many bowls, with half of them being trash in the entertainment department. 

Finally, we are back on track as the next week will deliver a glut of games I can feel safe in devoting time to. The unofficial star has to be the Little Caesars Bowl on Tuesday. 

Where does the excitement end? For much of the nation, it had to be around the Las Vegas Bowl when Boise State met Arizona State in a Bowl game that was far more exhibition than anything else. 

The matchup made no sense—like much of the games that are force fed to us during this time of year. We would all do well with half of the Bowl games taken out back and shot. There is no reason to have this many floating around and sopping up all the hype. 

Imagine a couple weeks of just a few games. Each one would be a must-see event rather than a laugher that just about every sports fan would be content in ignoring. 

On Tuesday, we got a scoring fest that has so far been competitive. Granted Purdue is controlling this one by the half. As of this writing though, I am having fun. 

That is more than can be said for every other Bowl game that has taken place this month. Welcome to the good stuff. The games that truly matter are right around the corner, and you can sense that. 

It's only halftime at Ford Field in Detroit, but we have already had a few dazzling plays and a good amount of scoring. What's more is the Bowl buzz is back, and thank god for that.
