NFL Playoff Picture: Cowboys vs. Giants Winner Has No Chance Against Lions

The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys face off in Week 17 with the NFC East crown on the line.

Victory will be sweet but short-lived, as the winner will more than likely have to take on the Detroit Lions in a Wild Card Weekend showdown.

The NFC East victor is guaranteed the No. 4 seed, and the Lions just need to win against the Green Bay Packers or, if they lose, hope the slumping Atlanta Falcons drop a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to lock up the No. 5 spot in the NFC.

Green Bay has a difficult decision to make on whether to rest their starters or go for the throat and attempt to beat their division rival for win No. 15 on the season.

Should they do the former, the Lions have a very easy road to that fifth seed.

Atlanta got smoked on Monday night by the New Orleans Saints, but is now going to go up against a terrible Buccaneers team that has nothing to play for but pride.

Don’t discount Tampa Bay however, as they will be trying to end their season on a high note and head into the offseason with some promise for next year.

Assuming that the Lions win or Atlanta loses, possibly both, they are going to blow out either the Giants or Cowboys on the way to their next opponent.

These NFC East duds both don’t even deserve to make the playoffs this year, but unfortunately, NFL rules dictate that a division winner has to advance.

Watch either of them get schooled by the Lions and lose in blowout fashion, finally putting an end to talk of this terrible division.
