Eric Gordon Video: Watch Chris Paul's Replacement Hit Game-Winning Jumper

David DanielsDec 27, 2011

Los Angeles Clippers fans aren’t missing Eric Gordon too much right now, but that’ll change eventually.

On the flipside, on Monday night, Gordon made New Orleans Hornets fans say Chris who?

His buzzer-beater against the Phoenix Suns in the Hornets' season-opener is a sign of good things to come.

On the night, Chris Paul’s replacement put up 20 points while shooting 50 percent from the field, brought down four boards and dished out three assists.

The 23-year-old former Indiana Hoosier showed great composure in the final seconds to seal the win for New Orleans.  They may have just found their closer for the next half-dozen or so years.

It may be a bit early to pencil Gordon in as an All-Star, but he sure looks well on his way.

Before his injury last season, he looked primed for an All-Star appearance, but a wrist injury hurt his numbers on the court and also forced him to miss playing time.  But Gordon probably isn’t too interested in individual honors at the moment; he wants revenge.

The Clippers repeatedly said that their up-and-coming shooting guard was part of their core alongside Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Gordon was supposed to be untouchable, but obviously that quickly changed after they became the front-runners in the race for Paul.

They dealt him without a second thought and because of that, March 22nd should be an interesting day as Gordon, along with Al-Farouq Aminu and Chris Kaman, face off against their old team for the first time.
