While many thought it was impossible—at least while he is as over with the younger kids as he is right now—John Cena is turning heel right before our eyes.

Since the chants of “Cena Sucks” have become louder than the cheers in support of Cena, the WWE has mulled over the opportunity of turning the star to the bad side.

It finally feels like the WWE has grown the fortitude to pull the move off.

It started with all of the business with The Rock and their WrestleMania match. Both men know that Rock will be cheered more than anyone else that could possibly be on that card, so leaving Cena a face would just make the match less meaningful.

If Cena was a heel, though, there would be serious heat on that match. While that makes so much sense, many fans who know Vince McMahon and the way the WWE does things still weren’t convinced the heel turn was feasible.

Segments with Roddy Piper and Mick Foley proved the WWE was trying to move Cena in a new direction, but it was still very unclear as to whether they were going to leave him a face with an angry streak or let him turn completely heel.

John Cena is going completely heel.

The first clue was the “Cena Sucks” T-shirts and the TLC PPV. Vinny Mac had to prove to the investors that CM Punk could carry the brand while Cena was a heel and that Cena’s heel gear would still sell.

A successful PPV from Punk and plenty of cash from the “Cena Sucks” gear cemented what Kane was meant to do all along—bring John Cena to the dark side.

WWE has made it this far successfully, but they are well-known for blowing the landings. Let’s just hope they follow through and allow what needs to happen to occur.
