WWE: Does Anyone Care About the Heat Between Sheamus and Jinder Mahal?
A few months ago, Jinder Mahal debuted on SmackDown and immediately formed a partnership with fellow Punjabi wrestler The Great Khali. After a rushed story in which Mahal ended the partnership, Great Khali was written off TV and Mahal can now be found jobbing on SmackDown.
Sheamus has also found himself in a similar spot. While he isn’t jobbing on SmackDown, the creative team doesn’t seem to have any idea what to do with him either.
Since his feuds with Mark Henry and Christian, Sheamus has just been wandering from person to person. One jobber Sheamus has frequented is Jinder Mahal. If I’m not mistaken, Sheamus has squashed Mahal twice within the last week or two.

So what exactly is the point of this heat between Jinder Mahal and Sheamus?
For Jinder Mahal, getting squashed on a weekly basis does nothing for him. Mahal hasn’t had much going for him since his debut, other than his team with Khali. Perhaps Mahal’s calling in the WWE is to be an enhancement talent. In my opinion, Mahal was called up from FCW far too early. In addition, it didn’t seem that they have a long-term plan for him.
Sheamus also hasn’t been benefitting from squashing Mahal on a regular basis.
Other than keeping him on TV, beating Mahal doesn’t do anything for Sheamus. The fact that he’s been established as such a dominant wrestler and that Mahal has been portrayed as someone anyone can defeat with ease, pinning Mahal doesn’t make Sheamus come off as any more dominant or threatening.
The fact that Mahal has been portrayed in such a way that anyone can defeat him with ease also hurts other wrestlers on SmackDown’s roster. For example, in the process of trying to build Ted DiBiase back up as a babyface, he feuded with Jinder Mahal for a short time. The fact that they took Mahal and fed him to Sheamus makes DiBiase look weak, too.
From what I can tell, this feud, if it can even be called that, only serves as filler until the creative team can find something to do with Sheamus. Whatever heat there is between Jinder Mahal and Sheamus is absolutely pointless from the perspective of this fan.
