WWE News: Who Would CM Punk Rather Face at Wrestlemania, Austin or Jericho?

It might be a difficult question for a WWE fan to answer if they were given the question of who they would like: WWE Champion CM Punk against WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin or the rumored returnee Chris Jericho.

Last Monday, CM Punk did an interview with Mix 106.1 in Philadelphia with that exact question being asked by the host, and here is what the champ had to say:

A potential match with Steve Austin or Chris Jericho at WrestleMania and who he'd like to face: "Who would I like at Wrestlemania this year? I'll explain it to you like this. Steve Austin, the biggest star in the wrestling business, period. Bigger than Hulk Hogan by a landslide, I might add. I don't think Steve is going to come out of retirement for anything less than the main event at Wrestlemania, nor should he. When you talk about a guy like Dwayne, Dwayne should not come back for anything less than the main event of Wrestlemania.

So the main event at Wrestlemania was booked in stone a year ago. It's Dwayne versus John Cena. It is what it is. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but we got awhile until Mania, and then we got a whole 365 days until Wrestlemania 29, and I think I can talk a lot of trash and maybe coax Steven into putting the boots on one more time. I'm not promising anything. I'm sure he gets annoyed when I talk about it, but I got to be me."

While the chances of the Punk/Jericho match at this year’s Wrestlemania are starting to gain momentum in the past few weeks, my choice would have to be Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Whether it is Jericho or Austin, the promos leading up to the match at a Wrestlemania would be classic leading up to the event, as all three of the superstars are gold whenever they pick up a microphone at a Raw or Smackdown.

There would be plenty of back story for the rivalry leading to the Wrestlemania, as CM Punk has had Twitter wars with both Jericho and Austin and even jokes that he might coax Stone Cold out of retirement for a main event match.

While Punk would choose to face off with the Texas rattlesnake at Wrestlemania, the match of Punk and Jericho is a much more plausible match if it does end up happening in Miami this year at Wrestlemania 28.
