WWE/TNA: Noteworthy News Stories from 2011 That You Probably Missed

Over the course of the year, you may have seen such headlines as: The Rock Returns, Is Sting WWE Bound? Edge Retired, The Hardy's Did What? and much more.

Overall, 2011 brought us some big stories. However, some of the more intriguing ones may not have been on your radar. These stories were interesting in both content and how they were or weren't reported. The biggest problem they faced was timing, as there may have been bigger events going on when it happened.

So I bring to you what I feel are some of the best hidden stories from 2011.

Impact Wrestling's Website Gets Hacked

Some of you noticed; most didn't .

Nonetheless, during the first weekend in November, impactwrestling.com was hacked on and off over the course of a 12-hour period.

The site had the logo displayed above with the following message:

Needless to say, TNA was finally able to restore the site, and all is well.

CM Punk Involved in Worst TV Interview Ever

CM punk appeared on FOX 7's morning show "Good Day Austin".

Punk was there to promote the Monday Night RAW Super Show. Normally, this would not be newsworthy. However, the interview was definitely cringe-worthy, yet fun to watch at the same time.

The anchor chosen to interview Punk was Katherine Kisiel, and she knew little to nothing about Punk's career or character.

Needless to say, this interview is a wrestling fan's dream, yet Kisiel continued to fumble through the entire thing. She mentioned that she had been out of wrestling for several years and used to watch The Rock and Triple H.

Punk was his usual sarcastic self, which played off beautifully for Kisiel's lack of preparation.

Triple H Listed as One of the Least Appealing Dudes

Yep, "The Cerebral Assassin" has found himself on a list as one of the 100 Unsexiest Men of 2011.

Altough the award may be unflattering, "The King of Kings" is in some good company, as he is listed alongside money-makers like Mark Zuckerberg, Dr. Oz, Ricky Gervais and Charlie Sheen.

The annual list was published on Boston Phoenix ranking the 100 “least appealing dudes.” The Boston, Mass.-based newspaper ranked Triple H at No. 20

Sin Cara's Phallic T-Shirt

For those of you who were clambering for the WWE to release a Sin Cara t-shirt, your time went almost as quickly as it arrived.

Somehow, someone in the WWE's graphics department overlooked or purposefully placed what appears to be male genitalia in the design.

Sadly, someone at WWE HQ has since realized the error, and the item is no longer available for purchase.

Chyna Trains Joey Buttafouco

This unlikely duo paired up in September, as Chyna acted as Buttafuoco's trainer as he was geaing up for his latest celebrity boxing match.

One has to wonder why Buttafuoco had chosen the ex-Diva turned adult film star as his trainer. The answer is pretty simple, as his opponent will be his ex-mistress' current husband.

Turns out, Chyna and Buttafuoco also have a past, as the two squared off in a celebrity boxing match in 2002. Sadly, that bout did not bode well for Chyna, as Buttafuoco proved victorious.

Ric Flair Invades Fenway Park; Presents TNA Titles to Dustin Pedroia

The self-proclaimed "God" of wrestling came out to throw the first pitch and announce that evening's lineup.

However, he also made sure to stop by the Red Sox clubhouse and pay a visit to Dustin Pedroia.

Turns out, Pedroia is not only a huge wrestling fan, he is also a huge fan of Flair.

Flair's stop was anything but ordinary, as he not only fulfilled Pedroia's boyhood dream, he also presented the second baseman with a replica of TNA's world title.

Santino Marrella Involved in Car Accident

Marella suffered a separated shoulder as a result of the accident. Apparently, another car struck Marella's car, causing it to flip sideways.

Santino was able to talk to WWE.com and gave the following statement:

"

"I had just left home and was going to get my hair cut before I began packing for WWE's trip to Puerto Rico," explained Marella. "[My barber] wasn't around, so I just decided to go home.

"My car flipped sideways and the trunk hit a light pole, it completely crushed in," Marella said. "The airbags deployed, and all I could smell was gunpowder."

Fortunately for Santino, his car took the brunt of the damage. As the photo shows, it eventually stopped near a light post.

Brian Kendrick Takes Part in the Price Is Right

Kendrick was not only called to play, but he made it past contestant's row and onto the stage. He even participated in the Secret X game, similar to tic-tac-toe, and spun the big wheel. Unfortunately, Kendrick did not win anything after participating in both games.

However, he didn't walk away empty-handed, as he won theater chairs and a plasma TV.

It was pretty cool to see an impromptu appearance from "The" Brian Kendrick. Normally when wrestlers appear on game shows, it is usually a wrestling theme. Shows such as Jeopardy, Fear Factor and Family Feud have had WWE, WCW and TNA-themed shows where several wrestlers are pitted against each other in either a team or individual competition.

Heath Slater Accused of Attacking Female Security Guard

According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, WWE star Heath Slater attempted to force a female guard to his hotel room.

The accusation stems from WrestleMania weekend, where Slater met security guard Connie Oliver at a WWE after-party that she was working. 

As the night continued on, Slater allegedly grabbed the guard by the neck to take her back to his room. WWE spokesman Jerry McDevitt weighed in on the topic stating, “The alleged victim is making claims against Slater individually, and it’s being investigated, this has nothing to do with the WWE."

Slater claims no incident took place and that he was with his fiancé at the time. To date, no updates have surfaced.

Shad Gaspard Arrested

Former WWE tag-team star Shad Gaspard was cuffed for allegedly jaywalking in Columbus, Ohio.

Former UFC champ Josh Barnett and Gaspard's wife, Siliana, were with him during the arrest.

Barnett stood by Shad and took to his Twitter page, stating, "Shad Gaspard arrested because a Columbus officer abuses his authority. False jaywalking charge + attitude turns to handcuffs and tackling."

Ultimately, the charges were dropped, and Gasspard proved you can fight the law and win.
