Are the Denver Broncos Stupid to Pin Their Future on Tim Tebow?

Ryan PhillipsDec 24, 2011

For the second consecutive week, the Denver Broncos came up short in the search for a victory. The Broncos were spanked 40-14 by a struggling Buffalo Bills team in what may have been one of the most disappointing performances by a first-place team this season.

Denver quarterback Tim Tebow had another disappointing day on Sunday, looking nothing like a future franchise quarterback. Tebow completed 13 of 30 passes for 185 yards, with one touchdown and four interceptions. Two of those picks were returned for touchdowns, as the Bills buried the second-year quarterback.

Tebow had a horrendous day and again showed the major flaws in his game that could hold him back as as a quarterback at the NFL level. So far this season, the Florida product has completed 120 of 250 passes (48 percent) for 1,669 yards, with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. He simply needs to be more accurate if he wants people to take him seriously as an NFL quarterback.

Personally I don't think Tebow can hold up as a quarterback in the NFL long-term. While he's a great kid and an extremely hard worker, I just don't think he possesses the tools necessary to turn himself into a reliable signal-caller at this level.

He is a great story, and the six-game win streak he led the Broncos on was fun to watch, but against a terrible Bills team today, his flaws were on display for all to see.

Thanks to today's loss, Denver fell to 8-7, and the team may be playing itself right out of the postseason. If the Broncos don't reach the playoffs, the team should reconsider its strategy of turning things over to Tebow.
