Tim Tebow's Awful Week 16 Effort Won't Stop Denver Broncos from Making Playoffs

Justin WeltonDec 24, 2011

Get your "Tim Tebow stinks" jokes ready, because not even the biggest defenders could back up the Denver Broncos' apparent savior after his horrific Week 16 performance at Buffalo.

Even with the 40-14 loss, Denver still can make the postseason with a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17.

Tebow did what he didn’t do all season long and that’s throw interceptions. He threw four interceptions compared to one touchdown through the air in their loss against a Bills team that had lost seven straight games.

He finished the day going 13-of-30 for 185 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions.

Have fun arguing against that one, because it’s nearly impossible.

Tebow threw two interceptions all season before Saturday’s game against the Bills. Ball security was seemingly one of his strong suits. Then he goes out and puts a four-spot on the board.

Craziness.

Even though the Chiefs lost to Oakland, 16-13, Kyle Orton has an opportunity to knock Tebow and the Broncos possibly out of the playoffs.

Who would have thought that before the season?

Orton, who was ridiculed by Denver fans all season long, could get his opportunity to shut them up once and for all when the teams square off in Denver on Jan. 1. What a possible storybook ending.

It won’t happen, though. Tebow will do what Tebow does, and that’s make plays when the game matters most.

You can pretty much guarantee that their Week 17 game will be within a narrow score when the fourth quarter comes around.

Tebow will make the necessary plays to win the game for the Broncos. I can guarantee that Tebow wouldn’t throw the ball 30 times against the Chiefs like he did the Bills. Their offense would be more tailored to their previous games, when Tebow was averaging more like 15 pass attempts. He attempted just eight passes in a Week 8 victory at Kansas City.

Behind Denver’s screaming fanatics, Tebow and the Broncos will not allow Orton to rip their hearts out.

Tebow, not Orton, will finish the regular season with a storybook ending.
